Camp Cadet of Chester County is a week-long, overnight summer camp for boys and girls, ages 11 to 13, who reside in Chester County. Our program takes place at Camp Sankanac, which is located near Phoenixville, PA and is staffed by Pennsylvania State Troopers, municipal police officers and other law enforcement professionals, all specially selected. The goal of Camp Cadet is to introduce young people to the exciting and diverse criminal justice system and establish positive relationships with law enforcement personnel.

This unique program is structured so as to mimic life at the police academy. All campers will be addressed as “Cadet” during the week, and all counselors, as “Sir” or “M’am”. Cadets are required to participate in all scheduled events, and to put forth maximum effort. Our program is designed to promote respect, discipline, and self-esteem, with strong emphasis on teamwork, all qualities that benefit the children, for the rest of their lives. Drug and alcohol education, violence prevention and other issues facing today’s youth are addressed throughout the week during lectures given by staff, and guest speakers.

Camp Cadet of Chester County is a non-profit organization, which means, meals, lodging and programs are provided at no cost to the applicant. Historically, this camp has been funded by business and private donations as well as through fund raising.

Donations can be sent to Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet of Chester County P.O. Box 1541, West Chester, PA 19380.
